Maranjab; the colorful desert of Iran

Maranjab is the nearest desert to Tehran; the capital of Iran (270 km) with a good road and equipment such as a desert camp (Location on Map). The best time to visit Maranjab is autumn but there are lots of tourists in other seasons as well. Walking on sands, safari tour and camel riding will inspire you, but there are more here!
Maranjab caravanserai; the historical caravanserai dating back to the Safavi era is a great highlight to visit and also the Salt Lake; walking around and taking photos with this big nature mirror will make your trip unique and unforgettable. Maranjab desert: one of the most captivating deserts in Iran.

Mesr and Aroosan; dreamy deserts in Iran

Mesr is an equivalent word for Egypt; The name of this desert comes from Joseph (Genesis) story but the Mesr desert looks like Egypt once and it is even better because of its Oasis. Mesr desert locates in Isfahan province (55 km from Khur) and has lots of old villages with historical architecture and structure (Location on Google map). The best time to visit Mesr, one of the most gorgeous Iran deserts, is from autumn to the middle of spring; the summer will be too hot for visiting and spending time but let’s think; how the local people live there and feel comfortable in their homeland. Maybe we can ask them by visiting and spending a night in Jandagh village; one of the most historical ones in the center of Iran. There are also some Oasis like Grameh village with amazing rivers, too, but the Mesr region is great for animal lovers; they can visit some animal species such as Caracal (Cat Breed), snakes desert, rabbits, and etc.
Fortunately, the people of the region are quite hospitable and modern and they have built lots of nice accommodation here, so you would have no worry about your meals and overnights; everything is ready for you to experience desert life and enjoy it!
The other fascinating desert close to the beautiful village of Khur is Aroosan (Location on Google map) which looks likes a dream. There are lots of Arecaceaes in Aroosan; the local people breed more than 60 types of dates in this mysterious village. Ski in Zard-Kuh (Zardkooh), Zagros Mountains

Zard-Kuh (Zardkooh) region in Zagros, and particularly Chelgard city is considered a favorite spot for sports lovers due to its unique natural attractions. The weather is mostly sunny during winter days; So, the accumulation of a large amount of powdery snow and easy access make this resort a famous one in the Zagros region.

Cycling in the amazing roads of Iran; The best biking destinations

If you are a fan of cycling or traveling overland constantly looking for amazing natural landscapes and gorgeous sceneries around, you are so welcomed to Iran. This country offers many astonishing roads to be explored in your favorite two-wheel vehicle. A travel guide to visit Kavir National Park + Photos

As one of the greatest biosphere reserves and the main habitat of Asian cheetahs, Kavir National Park attracts hundreds of nature lovers and adventurers every year. There are special attractions and unique features about this amazing wildlife site, if you want to get clued up about it, stay with us and keep reading.

Main attractions of Kavir National Park

There are two main tourist attractions in Kavir National Park; natural and historical attractions. The road which used to allow caravans to pass through swampy lands and salt marshes along the desert plain is one of the most amazing historical monuments of this region.
The famous “Qasr Bahram” building, which is actually a caravanserai dating back to around 500 years ago, a few other ancient caravanserais, and “Lakab and Qilooqeh” water reservoir, are other historical attractions of this region.

Turning to natural attractions, Salt Lake, which is the only lake near the park, is noticed as one of the largest salt marshes in Iran. The lake has a triangular shape, covering an area of 2500 square kilometers.
The lake with its salty water has a fascinating view at sunset from the black peak of the mountain. Do not forget to bring your camera; you will face loads of amazing and unique landscapes to record in this region.
Salt Lake is the catchment area of many rivers in central Iran and there are many swamps around it. Although there is no aquatic life in the lake, a significant number of migratory waterfowl flock to the lake and surrounding rivers in winter. Years ago, a number of flamingos were seen in the south in the summer.

Unique features

According to the Environment Organization, Kavir National Park is the only national park in Iran where there are no human, mineral, and livestock grazing licenses.
The region was so well-known for its fauna diversity in the past that it used to be called the “Little Africa”. Although the diversity has dwindled today, the area is still home to many types of desert animals in Iran, and it is considered among the 9 biosphere reserves in Iran.
A total of 34 species of mammals, 155 species of birds, and 34 species of reptiles have been recognized in Kavir National Park, including Asiatic Cheetah as the most outstanding one.

The area is also outstanding in terms of flora diversity; including 355 plant species, with 20 of them as endemic plants. They are most tolerant to drought and salt and have been adapted to the lack of water and soil salinity with small leaves and thrones.

Climate and the best time to visit

Kavir National Park has a dry and desert climate and most of its rainfall takes place from November to May. The average annual precipitation in the region is 150 mm. The intense heat usually lasts from early June to the end of October in the region. So, it would be better to avoid visiting Kavir National Park during summer; early spring and late fall (November and December) are the best time.

How to get to Kavir National Park?

You can reach Kavir National Park via three different routes;
The first route is from Garmsar to Qasr Bahram, from Garmsar to the south to Kahak village, there is a main 10 km-asphalt road, and from Kahak there is a Safavid paved road with, approximately 30 km to the vicinity of Qasr Bahram. However, this route is muddy and swampy in the second half of the year when it rains.
The second, also known as the main route to Qasr Bahram is the Tehran-Pishva-Mubarakia route, starting from Varamin. you must first go to Pishva, on the side road next to the Tehran-Mashhad railway line to reach the “Aberdaj” railway station. Here, you will pass near Imamzadeh Abdo, Asgarabad, and within a few kilometers of a suitable dirt road, you will reach the entrance point of Kavir National Park – Mobarakieh.
The third route, which is a suitable way to enter the park, starts from Aran and Bidgol cities located in the north of Kashan, and within about three hours, the dirt road to the northwest reaches the Marnjab caravanserai on the southern edge of the Great Salt Lake. It takes about three hours from Maranjab to the east to Sefid Ab.

Safety tips

Traveling in a 4-wheel drive is the most reliable way to visit the area since it is surrounded by desert.
Do not forget to bring enough water, enough gasoline, a spare tire, a first aid kit, sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses.
Obtaining information and permission from the General Department of Environmental Protection of Semnan Province and coordinating with affiliated organizations in the region is required if you are traveling by yourself.
It is highly recommended to travel on a tour since the area is full of swamps and a professional tour guide with a reliable itinerary would guarantee your safety.

Traveling to Qeshm Island (video)

As the largest island of the Persian Gulf, Qeshm Island has a unique and amazing nature; that is why this island is considered one of the Seven Wonders. Qeshm, the island of colorful soil and mountains like a rainbow is a paradise for geologists. Qeshm Geopark is one of the most unique sights of Qeshm. Geoparks are areas where there is a lot of biodiversities and geological phenomenon in the area; the western part of the island offers a diversity of geological phenomena such as beautiful mangrove forests, caves and salt marshes, Chahkuh Strait, Statues Valley, Qeshm Roof, Star Valley, Dolab, Salkh Bowl, Shoor Valley, Korkura Mountain and other areas with folds. Astonishing, unusual mountains, magnificent figures created by erosion, and many other rare geological phenomena as well as plant and animal diversity, is known as Qeshm Geopark, which is the only geopark in Iran and the Middle East inscribed by the UNESCO.

If you want to see the beautiful sunset of the island and the beautiful country houses of Qeshm, you are recommended to go to Laft port in the northwest of the island. The main feature of Laft is its long windbreaks and narrow alleys, and its boats and huts, and the location of houses among tropical green trees and tall groves.
Valley of the Stars is another amazing sight of Qeshm, which is about 2 million years old. This valley has been created due to geological phenomena such as erosion by surface waters, hurricanes, and seasonal showers in this area and has led to the creation of such a natural masterpiece. You will be amazed to reach this area and see the mountains, nested and sedimentary cavities, columns, and corridors. After passing through the corridors, the blue sky shows up above your head and creates a unique view. On the way to visit Qeshm Star Valley, be sure to stop in Barake Khalaf village; Because this village is one of the cleanest villages in Iran, and in addition, you will be excited to see its handicrafts!

Top climbing destinations in Iran: Damavand & Alam-Kuh

Many adventurers around the world wish to climb the highest volcanic peak in the Middle East that is gorgeously capped with snow all year-round. Climbing the 5610m peak of Damavand may take two to seven days depending on the physical condition of your body and how skilled you are.

The German, French, English, and Italian mountaineers have climbed Alam-Kuh on various routes of this wall. There is a wall on the northern slope of Alam-Kuh, which is one of the most difficult and technical routes for climbing and wall climbing in Iran, and this peak is most famous for this wall.
The best time to climb Alam-Kuh is the second half of July. The Autumn and winter of Alam-Kuh witness heavy snow, storms, and heavy avalanches, and this situation continues until spring every year, so it is strongly recommended to avoid climbing during these seasons.

Bermuda triangle of Iran: Rig-e Jenn desert + video

Imagine traveling to a desert covered with golden sand dunes that locals believe it has been cursed and evil spirits and demons rule in this mysterious land, and for this reason, whoever steps on the desert will be swallowed up and never returns!
