Iran is a country of culture and nature. There are lots of amazing nature highlights such as mountains and deserts, that are as famous as Persepolis. Tehran; the capital of Iran offers mountain destinations of more than 3000-meter height. So, if you are an adventurer and like to climb or ski, Tehran is the best destination for your holidays. In this text, we introduce four famous Tehran mountains you should climb, that aren’t only high, but also so wonderful and dazzling.

1. Darband; the historical village

Darband is one of the old villages of the Shemiran neighborhood in the north of Tehran. Darband Street starts from Tajrish Square at an altitude of 1,600 meters above sea level and ends at Sarband Square at an altitude of 1,800 meters above sea level.
Here is an excellent area with a pleasant climate, where many capitalists take refuge from the hustle and bustle of the city to enjoy its stunning scenery and to eat a delicious meal in its countless restaurants, but this is not the whole story. The area has great mountains, that are near Tehran so you can go mountaineering and enjoy the pleasant weather and the scenic environment easily. Walking on the Stoney path of Darband and passing by various restaurants and vendors and eating Lavashak (Persian fruit leather) has given Darband a double charm.

2. Darakeh; breath and enjoy

Darakeh is one of those areas where you cannot exchange the pleasure of sightseeing with anything. This area is very cozy and unique, so going there is always new to you. The audible sound of the river, along with its wonderful climate, all announce the creation of a memorable day for you.
The best time of the day to go climbing Darakeh is early in the morning; because you do not face the crowds of the route and you have enough time to go back and forth and enjoy the natural scenery of this pleasant climate.
The mountain valley of Darakeh offers special and unique features that distinguish it from other summer destinations. The highest part of the Darakeh mountains, known as the Shahneshin peak, is 3,800 meters high. Annual rainfall in this region averages 300 to 400 mm and the average temperature reaches 16 degrees Celsius; this means that most of the year, the weather is cool. In summer, it has 21 species of local plants that grow exclusively in this area so it has different medicinal plants. It is interesting to know that the Darakeh River is fed by the Precipitation and the rainfall water is used to irrigate gardens, lands and compensate Tehran’s water shortage. Another feature of this amazing mountain valley can be considered its mountaineering route, which doubles the pleasure of climbing in Iran.

3.Tochal; the peak of Tehran

Tochal resort is a peak in the north of Tehran with a height of 3,962 meters, which is part of the Alborz mountain range. The southern slope of the resort is adjacent to the city of Tehran and its peak overlooks the city. There are lots of highlights in Tochal as follows;
• The resort cable car is one of the most famous attractions of the resort, which has three main lines and seven stations, one ski lift, and three cable cars.
Station one is located at an altitude of 1,900 meters, stations two and three are located at an altitude of 2,480 meters, stations five and six are located at an altitude of 2,910 meters, and station seven is located at an altitude of 3,680 meters. With a length of approximately 7,500 meters, this cable car is one of the longest cable car lines in the world, which allows you to travel comfortably to an altitude of 3,680 meters above sea level, and you can enjoy the pleasant air of Tehran’s heights to the fullest.
If you are tempted to use the resort cable car, you should know that May, June, October, and November are the best time to climb the peak of the resort.

Tochal-Tehran

Tehran mountains – Tochal resort is a peak in the north of Tehran with a height of 3,962 meters

• Tochal ski slope is one of the most popular ski resorts in Iran and the closest ski slope to Tehran (five kilometers north of the city) and therefore you no longer need to spend a lot of time driving and returning to your place of residence after an exciting day of skiing. Due to its high altitude in the seventh station, which reaches 3,500 meters above sea level, the ski resort is the first snow-covered ski slope in the country, which can often be used for eight months of the year in rainy years.
Due to the suitable slope of the resort, it is an ideal place for skiing enthusiasts. To access this resort, you have to go to the seventh station of the cable car and enjoy the presence of the most experienced ski instructors and the best ski school equipment. In addition to a ski lift, the track has a cable car (Dopplemayr), a hotel, and two restaurants.

4. Kolakchal

Kolakchal is the name of one of the peaks of the central Alborz mountain range in the north and one of the sights of Tehran, which has become one of the main resorts for mountaineers and ordinary people today. The height of the Kolakchal peak is 3,350 meters above sea level, which is very attractive to climb due to the beautiful and spectacular route.
Kolakchal is one of the most suitable mountaineering routes all days of the week, which you can enjoy this beautiful nature to the fullest, with its simple mountaineering equipment and ordinary experience.
There are different routes to climb this peak, the most important of which can be considered the route of the beautiful Jamshidiyeh park.
Jamshidiyeh park with its many trees, plants, and flowers is one of the largest parks in Iran and tourist attractions of Tehran province that can be used for a morning exercise. You have to come to this park to go to Kolakchal; Head west to the park, where the cobblestone road continues northwest. After about 400 meters, you will reach a spring that has cool and refreshing water. From here, the road goes up in a spiral, and after passing through several rest areas where food is also served, it reaches a relatively large area, which is about 2,300 meters high.
